All that was needed to create this competition machine was a fully integrated development approach, the creation of a new concept of buffer and four decades of experience in victories in Cross-Country. .
REFERENCE TABLE: To deliver the maximum speed through an unprecedented power transfer and a very precise driving, our engineering team established and reached new standards in torsional stiffness and pedaler axis rigidity. This goal required an integrated development approach that merged a structurally superior double diamond design with its damper stuck inside the upper tube, and ripped with the most sophisticated carbon laminate in Specialized history.
NACE A NEW SUSPENSION FORMA: The Specialized Ride Dynamics team conceived and invented a revolutionary damper technology for the Epic World Cup that provides the cyclist with the efficiency and rapid response of a rigid bike MORE the control, capacity and impulse of a double suspension, all with a simple configuration. Co-developed with RockShox, the SID Deluxe WCID damper uses independent adjustable positive and negative air cameras to offer the so-called "effect" of a rigid bike, combined with a damping that devours the terrain, and the ability to easily customize the configuration for a specific tour or adjust it to the preferences and sensations of the cyclist. Use the firm configuration and roll as a rigid, or use the most active configuration and absorb each bache without losing efficiency or acceleration. But not only are these limited to "open and closed", the simple nature of its configuration allows the cyclist to adjust it across the spectrum between firm and soft.
SUPERING YOUR PROPERTY CATEGORY: The 75mm rear route of the Epic World Cup provides the control and capacity of a larger bike. Because it is designed to operate with a very small sag, it offers the same effective route as a 100mm bike with 25% sag. To further optimize the performance of the suspension, the Specialized Ride Dynamics team has adjusted the air chamber to make it relatively linear in the middle of the suspension and thus absorb large impacts like a larger bike. Due to its large size, the Mega Jounce Bumper is a "firstfruit in the industry" and plays a crucial role in absorption when you touch with strong impacts.
What HAVE WE LOST “THE PEACE”? Something like this: While the new and revolutionary SID Deluxe WCID shock absorber provides the unique combination of suspension and stiffness in the back, the BRAIN continues to live and hang on the fork. Its Position-Sensitive technology makes the first 15 mm of route very smooth to avoid losing traction in small bumps while the rest of the suspension has a firmer behavior to not contaminate the pedaling. All this without the need for a remote lock or lever.
The SYSTEM STATE: With a frame weight of only 1,915 grams (painted, with damper and all hardware), the Epic World Cup exceeds the lightest of its competitors. Speed up faster, scale efficiently and better control in any circumstances. All that translates into speed. We have achieved the feather weight and monstrous rigidity of the Epic WC by applying what we learned about the advanced carbon laminate and the shapes of the tubes in the development of our Aethos, the lightest road picture ever manufactured.
